I started reading this book yesterday afternoon, and I was able to finish it by last night. This book was an extremely easy read. If you are looking for a noncommital, quick read, this is the book for you. I can't say that I truly liked or disliked this book. It is about Sarah's childhood living with an abusive mother and stepfather. The mother wanted to have an abortion, but her mother found out and made her give birth to and keep Sarah. Basically, this author wrote this book as an outlet. It is a very sad story, especially since it is all true. It was disturbing to read about all the horrible things this woman's mother did to her.

Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult (Book Review)
Let me start by saying...I absolutely loved this book!!!! In fact, I stayed up until 3:00 a.m. this morning to finish it. The thing I loved most about Handle With Care was the fact that the story is told through the eyes of all the different characters as if they are talking directly to the main character. Even better, I could relate with every single character even though they each had vastly different views and opinions on the key issue of the book. I believe this is the first book I have read by Jodi Picoult, and now I am hooked on her works. The only draw-back (if you will) to this book is that it is unbelievably sad. Jodi said herself that this is the saddest book she has ever written. I hope everyone who sees this book will take the time to read it. I have to say, I couldn't put it down. This is especially a great book for mothers, in particular mothers who have children with disabilities.

A Kindle for Christmas
As most of you know, I was hoping for a Kindle for Christmas. That is exactly what I received!!! I downloaded several books, but I decided that I was not going to start reading anything until I made a cover for my Kindle. I spent hours perusing google and pinterest, but I was unable to find any patterns that I loved. So what does any seamstress do when faced with that problem? Make her own pattern, and hope and pray and cross her fingers that it all works out!!! So last night I set out to make said Kindle cover. I am horrible with binding, but other than that, I think the cover came out pretty well.
All that being said, I have now begun the first book in my journey to becoming more well read. i have started Jodi Picoult's "Handle With Care". According to my Kindle, I have read 7% of it so far. It is enthralling!!! I cannot wait to delve further into this book!

A Little About Me
First and foremost, I've never blogged before, so this is a completely new concept to me. That being said...bear with me.
I've slowly learned in my mid-twenties that I do in fact have a creative side that has been yearning to rear its face my whole life. In the past two years, I have taken up quilting, sewing, and crafting. It's become so much fun that I am seriously toying with the idea of starting my own business.
Also, I have always enjoyed writing, and I think in order to be a great writer one must first be well read. Here is where my journey begins. I have decided that my resolution for 2012 will be for me to become very well read. I am hoping and praying that Santa brings me a Kindle Fire for Christmas, but if he chooses not to, that will be my first purchase for the New Year. I am currently making a list of books that I would like to read, and I am currently hovering around 140 books/series. I also have a list of several authors who I would like to read all of their books.
This blog will serve several purposes:
1. Allow me an outlet for my own creative writing
2. Keep me accountable for constantly reading and becoming well read
3. Give me a place to rate the books from #2
4. Be a show place for my crafts/creations
